So this may have been slightly overkill but still extremely fun. We needed a box of stacked shrimp for sell, so naturally as I had some shrimp at home, I scanned one of the shrimp, then took the scan and stacked it into piles inside zbrush. Once i had a few variations of stacks, I could then punch the height map out in designer as well as the projected textures. Then I was able to tidy up the texture in designer. I liked this technique most because it feels most natural and gives a good sense of depth, even if it was a tad overkill for the final output requirement...
